Unusual Suspects

Curated by New York based artists, Elise Tak and Marvin Pique (both originally from the Netherlands) the exhibition A New York State of Mind (Stories from the Unusual Suspects) will feature a great variety of disciplines, themes, and story angels. From paintings, drawings, collages, video art and photography to installation art, music, and interactive performances. The artists will present works that talk about gender and sexuality, beauty, self image and aging, displacement and identity, the many costs of war, how chocolate should make the journey from Earth to Mars and life in the age of Trump. On a lighter note the exhibition will include a showreel of the mockumentary-style film series THE MADNESS OF ART, a hilarious send up of the contemporary New York gallery and art scene in all of its absurdity.

Patient History

On September 8th at 7:30pm and Sept 9th at 2pm & 7:30pm Natalie performs her solo show “Patient History” at Mister Rogers, 231 Rogers Ave. in Crown Heights. Bemused, with a potent heart, she considers how she got here, where she is and what to do about it. “Patient History” is a movement memoir including dance and spoken word. The show includes original music by Reed Kackley and projects by William Stanton.
- Written by the gracious Brian Kelly

This one woman show is personal and yet universal in scope and I am happy to finally be moving this dialogue into the public sphere, even if I feel vulnerable in the efforts that are required of me in this form of storytelling and advocacy.
